Bundling files for multiple uses

You may be accustomed to the old days when most imaging packages had only one type of file available, known as a TIFF file. If you look at the name TIFF, it stands for Tagged Image File Format, although that name is rarely used because TIFF no longer refers to the format it used to. The most common format for graphics on a computer is now JPEG, which stands for Joint Photographic Experts Group.

Today, most popular graphic packages offer both JPEG and TIFF files. (JPEG is sometimes spelled J-P-E-G, so the initials can be easily confused.) They also usually offer an image format called PSD that is based on layers and layers.

Photoshop can import and export many image formats, including the following:

Adobe Photoshop (.psd)

Adobe Photoshop Elements (

Adobe Illustrator (.ai)

VectorWorks (.vwz,.svz,.eps, and.eps)

Photoshop offers a PSD file format that is designed to store a whole host of layers, and a file that creates the layers is known as a.psd file. I talk more about the PSD file in the next section.

Photoshop Elements (PSE) offers its own.psd file format, and it has the same basic tools as Photoshop, except for some that are exclusive to PSE. (``)

Photoshop and Elements come in a Portable Document Format (.psd,, so you can create a project and then move the project to a different computer. And you can open and edit images in a file on another machine.

In a PSD file, layers display as thumbnails in the Layers panel (shown in Figure 5-2), but the actual layers are invisible (because they’re not actually in the document) until you hide them.

The document shown in Figure 5-2 has two layers

Photoshop and Photoshop Elements are both widely used by both professionals and amateurs. They are the two most popular graphics editing programs.

Today, we will compare between the two images editing software. So, let’s get started!

Your First Photoshop Elements Images Editing Experience

If you are a new Photoshop Elements user, you will need a little time to get used to the new changes.

Depending on your purpose, you can edit images in any of the two programs:

Photoshop Elements (Full)

You can use both of them to edit your images. Both contain basic and advanced features.

Using Photoshop Elements vs. Photoshop

In the past few years, Adobe has made several major changes to Photoshop and Photoshop Elements. The new version of Photoshop has some missing features and can seem intimidating to beginners.

So, how will it be if you switch from Photoshop to Photoshop Elements? Read this section of this Photoshop vs. Photoshop Elements review and find out.

Difference Between Photoshop and Photoshop Elements

The Adobe Photoshop Elements is an alternative to the full Photoshop or the latest version of Photoshop.

Adobe Photoshop Elements is the software with less features and a simpler interface. It is made for beginners, while the professional version is suitable for all Photoshop users.

The major difference between the two:

Price: Photoshop Elements is much cheaper than Photoshop, but you will have to pay if you want to upgrade to the latest version of Photoshop.

Features: Photoshop Elements is missing some Photoshop features like special effects and animation.

Adobe Photoshop Elements vs. Other Image Editing Software

In this Photoshop vs. Photoshop Elements Review, I will compare Photoshop Elements to some other image editing software such as GIMP, Paint.NET, Pixelmator, and Corel Paint Shop Pro.

Let’s see what we can find in the table below:

Adobe Photoshop Elements vs. GIMP

GIMP is a free software and is used to edit photographs in many alternative ways. It is very powerful for editing digital images. GIMP allows you to work on a canvas, and have more control over the picture than in Photoshop Elements.

You can open and save images in most file formats including RAW format. GIMP has advanced features

The Healing Brush tool can be used to remove imperfections from images. The Smudge tool allows you to change the pixels in one area of an image, even if they are not affected by an eraser. You can also use the Eraser tool to delete an area of an image.
The Pen tool is designed to be used with a pressure sensor on the pen. You can draw shapes, arrows, objects, or vector lines on an image.

The Clone Stamp can be useful in fixing areas of an image that have been accidentally removed or damaged. To use it, select the Brush tool, and click the New Cloning Stamp button (). Drag across the area that you wish to use for the new stamp. Click the Commit button () to apply the new stamp. To remove the stamp, press Shift+Delete. This tool has a learning curve, and I won’t be able to cover it in depth because I’m focusing on the more commonly used Photoshop features instead.
Brushes and Erasers

The Brush tool in Photoshop allows you to do two things:

brushes are tools for painting on an image. They come in a wide variety of shapes, sizes, and styles. The most commonly used brushes include:
The Pen tool is used to draw freehand paths. You can also use the Brush tool to draw brush strokes.
The Goofy brush is used to draw simple cartoon-like shapes. It’s a handy tool for drawing borders and frame lines.
The Smooth brush is ideal for smooth, thin lines. It creates very nice, fine strokes.
The Metallic brush can be used to add a special effect to an object. It looks like chrome or gold.
The Darken/Lighten brush allows you to lighten and darken areas of an image.
The Align/Distribute options in the Brush Options dialog box allow you to tell the brush which pixels to follow. These features create a grid or background for your painting, making it easy to match the density of the grid lines to the other image areas. The Align options also let you make changes to the general shape of the brush stroke. The Distribute options let you change the amount of contrast, color, and black-to-white in the image.
The Draw option controls the amount of highlight or shadow that the brush is supposed to create. You can tell the brush to create either less shadow or less highlight.
The Type tool is

Retrofit 2 post data with add parameters

I am new to Retrofit and I am having trouble creating new data models.
I want to use a method that looks something like this
public void createPost(String commentName, String commentText, String userName, String userEmail, String userUrl, String photoUrl) throws IOException {

RestRequest request = new RestRequest();;
request.addParameter(“commentName”, commentName);
request.addParameter(“commentText”, commentText);
request.addParameter(“userName”, userName);
request.addParameter(“userEmail”, userEmail);
request.addParameter(“userUrl”, userUrl);
request.addParameter(“photoUrl”, photoUrl);
RestAdapter adapter = new RestAdapter.Builder()

and the api looks like this
Call createPost(@Body PostRequest postRequest);

But I have no idea how to create the PostRequest Object. I was thinking about the following but that doesn’t work in Retrofit 2 and I dont know if that is the correct way to create the request:
public class PostRequest {
String commentName = “test”;
String commentText = “test text”;
String userName;
String userEmail;
String userUrl;
String photoUrl;

But it complains the @Body is not working with String

The correct way to do it is like you did, try and see if it works.
